Brian Hirsch
Class and Team instructor, Facility Manager
Brian is a tennis pro and a coach of many sports. For much of his past 20 years, coaching
tennis has been his main career choice; however, the tides are changing and gymnastics
has become his latest interest. Since childhood, Brian has been highly involved and very
enthusiastic about sports. He graduated from Lyndon State College with a Tennis
Management degree but jokes that his minor was in intramural sports. He has an
impressive tennis coaching resume which includes coaching world-ranked men and
woman and top NCAA players as well as being the director of professional development at
Wimbledon. Brian has also been very involved with local wrestling, volleyball and softball
teams. He has been exposed to many, many years of gymnastics and has spent many
hours observing some of the top coaches in the country (namely his best-friend Craig
Tetreault). It is nice that he is now able to use all of that information and share it with all of
his Frog Bridge students. Whatever his sport may be, Brian’s teaching gift is very apparent
and Frog Bridge Gymnastics is very lucky to have him.
Elizabeth (Liz) Horn
Instructor
(ON LEAVE)
Liz is from Ashford and is currently a student at U-Conn. Liz has a strong gymnastics
background from Deary’s Gymnastics where she competed as a Level 9 gymnast. Liz
loves coaching and working with children. “She is a natural teacher who obviously enjoys
coaching children. We are very fortunate to have Liz on our staff”, says director Diane
Hirsch.
Steve Plesz
Instructor
Steve is just the type of teacher that Frog Bridge is looking for. He was recruited to teach
when his son signed up for gymnastics. Steve was a collegiate basketball and baseball
player at Eastern and was recently inducted into the ECSU Sports Hall of Fame for his
basketball career. His strong understanding of sports and his enthusiasm towards
gymnastics and teaching children make him a natural, according to Frog Bridge director,
Diane Hirsch.
Mark Phelps
Instructor
Mark is absolutely the kind of staff member that makes Frog Bridge what it is! He is a first-
class teacher who makes gymnastics fun and exciting for everyone. Mark is a full time PE
teacher at Ashford Elementary School as well as the husband of Carol and father to
Meghan and Alex (both members of our program). When Meghan and Alex joined the
program Diane quickly recruited Mark as a teacher based on his excellent teaching style
and knowledge of the sports. If you want to laugh just listen to Mark in action with his
students!
