January/February 2007 Gymnasts of the Month
PRESCHOOL
Megan Stettler is the 4 ½ year old daughter of Michelle and Gary of Hampton. Megan is a very enthusiastic, well-behaved
student. Megan has great coordination and strength and is eager to perform her skills properly. She is a true pleasure to have in
class. Congratulations Megan!
BOYS CLASS
Drew LaPlaca is the 5 ½ year old son of Kathleen and Mark of Storrs. Drew is a thinker! He listens and follows directions to a T.
He tries his hardest all the time and continues to improve every week. We love having Drew in class!
GIRLS CLASS
Erin Bergeron is the 10 year old daughter of Susan and Michael of Hampton. Erin is a dream student. She is ultra respectful of
her coaches and fellow students and works very hard. Erin has awesome execution during her skills and is starting to really
increase her level of difficulty. Great job Erin!
TEAM
Ashley Walton is the 9 year old daughter of Chris and Briana of Hampton. Although Ashley is new to the team program she fits
right in and has the right attitude towards reaching the higher levels. It is fun to teach someone who wants it so bad! Ashley
loves gymnastics and it shows! Great job Ashley!
December 2006 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Priscilla Mateo is the 4 year old granddaughter of Brenda and Kevin Church of North Windham. Priscilla is super cooperative
and lots of fun to teach! She executes her skills with great execution and points her toes like a true gymnast! Diane is very
impressed with Priscella's moves on the circus equipment and Tumble Trak. Cirque Du Soleil here we come!
Boys Class
Sean Hanrahan is the 13 year old son of Gerry and Patrick of Chaplin. We have been so impressed with Sean's improvements!
He works very hard and gives his best effort to all of his skills. Sean is particularly helpful to his coaches and always very
respectful. Awesome job Sean!
Girls Class
Samantha Trombley is the 10 year old daughter of Sharon and Gary of Franklin. If anyone wants to get better at gymnastics it is
Sam! She gives 100% to her work-outs and them some! We are very pleased with Sam's determination, hard work, and
improvements. Sam is a great student to coach!
Team
Peta Silva is the 8 year old daughter of Michelle and Luis of Willimantic. Peta is a real worker! She doesn't waste a second
while at practice and it shows. "Peta is a coaches dream" says coach Becky, "she is focused and wants to learn. I am so happy
that she chose to join the FBG team and I'm confident that she has a great future in gymnastics!"
NOVEMBER 2006 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Olivia Dickinson is the 3-year old daughter of Peter and Nora Ann of Hampton. Olivia is a very eager participant and a super
student. She is a great listener and always follows directions. Olivia continues to get stronger and improve her skills on every
single event! Nice job Olivia!
Boys Class
Timothy Watson is the 7-year old son of Janet and Lane of Storrs. Timothy is a SUPER hard worker. He is exceptionally well
behaved and always pays attention. Coach Brian raves about how great Timothy is to coach. Outstanding job Timothy!
Girls Class
Megan Phelps is the 13 -year old daughter of Mark and Carol of Windham. Megan is an exceptional student and a fabulous
assistant teacher. She seems to have inherited the teaching gift from her parents and is a great asset to our program. As a
gymnast Megan is considered by coaches to be one of the most coachable kids. She is very respectful of fellow classmates
and teachers and tries her absolute hardest at all times. It is always a pleasure to have Megan in the gym!
Team
Sydney Clements, 11 year old daughter of Paul and Laura of Mansfield Center. Sydney is our first back-to back gymnast of the
month. She impresses us daily with her serious attitude, hard work and continuous improvements. She WANTS it BAD and it
SHOWS! Despite feeling quite sick Sydney did a special work-out with guest coach Craig Tetreault, and you would never have
known how sick she really felt! NOW THAT’S DETERMINATION! Her physical strength has improved tremendously and she is
well on her way to a successful debut competitive season as a Level 4 gymnast! Way to go Syd!
SEPTEMBER 2006 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Elliott Kalisher is the 3-year old daughter of Kristen and Allon of Hebron. We are extremely impressed with Ellie's 3-year old
attitude. She has tried so many new things and overcome many challenges upon reaching the big "03". It is fun and exciting to
see her do ALL of the activities now! She is very strong and has many great bar skills and also has an awesome cartwheel over
the mat!
Boys Class
Alexander Phelps is the 6 year old son of Mark and Carol of Windham. Alex is a super student with great behavior. Alex is eager
to learn and works hard to get things the right way. He is a great listener and keeps getting stronger all the time. His 50(+)
second chin-up hold on the rings will be a tough record to beat! Awesome job Alex!
Girls Class
Sheanna Biewald is the 4 -year old daughter of Willa and Steve of Willimantic. Shea has such amazing strength and focus that
in order to challenge her we decided we should move her into the 5-7 year old group and she still stands out! Shea is awesome
to teach and follows directions to a T! We predict a great future for this super talent! Great job Shea!
Team
Sydney Clements is a Level 4 gymnast and the 11 year old daughter of Paul and Laura of Mansfield Center. Sydney was one of
our first Gymnasts of the Month and she has continued to demonstrate how much she deserves it. Sydney has had several
injuries this year but she has always made the best of the situation. With lots of hard work building strength; she has attained
many new skills, especially on the bars (which requires a lot of upper body strength). It is always a pleasure to have Sydney in
the gym both as a student and as an assistant. She is an awesome role-model and a great member of our team program!
SUMMER 2006 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Sonja Reyda is the 4 -year old daughter of Laura and Florian of Willimantic. Sonja moves with new grace and confidence and
has become an eager and confident participant. Sonja's strength and skills have improved greatly and she is especially strong
on the balance beam. Way to go Sonja!
Boys Class
Timmy Bettinger is the 11 year old son of Dawn and Jeff of Hampton. Tim has such a nice demeanor and is a treat to teach. He
is constantly getting stronger and has shown awesome improvements in his coordination. He is serious and focuses on the
tasks at hand. He has recently mastered a Tumble Trak drill for front tucks and is well on his way to executing an awesome front
tuck onto the mat (he's actually done it several times). Tim and his family members are wonderful members of our program.

Girls Class
Bryalis Torres is the 9 year old daughter of Syndia Serrano and Alberto and Christine Torres of Willimantic. It is an utter joy to
teach Bryalis! She is as hard-working and focused as they come. She has fantastic flexibility and execution and never stops
working. With her great work-ethic she is certain to continue reaching higher levels!
MARCH 2006 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Paul Friedman is the 3 -year old son of Karen and Rick of Columbia. It has been so exciting to see how much Paul has
improved in many different aspects. He now happily tries all of the activities and fully interacts with his teachers and class-
mates. He has shown a remarkable gain in self-confidence, strength and coordination. We are very proud of Paul's great
achievements!
Boys Class
Garrett Fischer is the 6 year old son of Linda and Shawn of Marlborough. Garrett is an all-around awesome student. He is very
attentive, well-behaved and ready to learn. Garrett has very impressive strength and agility and is ready to take-off in this sport.
Watch out for this guy!
Girls Class
Amanda Roy is the 10 year old daughter of Monique and Brian of Mansfield. Amanda is always smiling and has such a nice,
appreciative, courteous respect for her teachers and class-mates. "If I was stuck on a deserted island teaching someone
gymnastics I'd want it to be with Amanda!" says Coach Becky. Amanda's skill level continues to improve and her execution of
skills and routines is looking very nice!
JANUARY/ FEBRUARY 2006 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Julia Alicea, 4 ½ -year old daughter of Tara Cramer and Sabian Alicea of Willimantic, comes in to the gym each week with a
great smile, lots of energy and a “can do” attitude. She is very talented, eager to learn and does not shy away from new
challenges. She is a real pleasure to have in class.
Boys Class
Ryan Koncki is the 12 year old son of Bill and Laurel of Columbia. Coach Brian is very impressed with Ryan’s great attitude
and how hard he works. He sets a very good example for his fellow gymnasts by paying careful attention to his coaches and by
working hard to accomplish the goals set before him. His hard work has resulted in a great improvement in his strength,
coordination and skill acquisition.
Girls Class
Kelsie Hall is the 6 year old daughter of Natalie and Gene of Franklin. Kelsey’s great focus and seriousness stands out in the
crowd. She always comes in to class with a positive attitude and she is a very quick learner. She has the ability to fine-tune her
movements giving her gymnastics very nice appeal.
NOVEMBER/ DECEMBER 2005 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Alexia Bettencourt is the 5 year old daughter of Sheila and Tony of Willimantic. Alexia has a “can do” attitude and is eager and
determined to reach higher levels. She loves challenges and is happiest working with older gymnasts. Alexia has a beautiful
cartwheel and a very promising gymnastics career!
Boys Class
Nathan Khan, 12 year old son of Mizan and Therese of Willimantic. Nathan is a super strong, agile athlete. He works very hard,
has great determination and is fearless. Nathan’s gymnastics trademark is his super-flying, BREATH-TAKING diving forward
roll! Nathan is also an excellent assistant with the younger students and a great demonstrator.
Girls Class
Gray McKinley joins us from Paris, France! She lives in Canterbury and is the13 year old daughter of David and Natalie. Gray
has no previous gymnastics experience but is quickly becoming a very strong tumbler. She is seriously focused, has great work-
ethic and excellent execution.
FALL 2005 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool Class
Delaney Card, 4- year old daughter of Jill and Scott of Hampton. Delaney comes to class eager to participate and learn. She has
great FOCUS, particularly for someone her age. She is very strong and has a very positive attitude.
Girls Class
Sidney Clements, 10- year old daughter of Paul and Laura of Mansfield Center. Sidney is strong, flexible and extremely focused.
She works hard and is very quick to master new drills and skills. She often matches the gym in her ORANGE outfits and is a
wonderful volunteer; assisting with the preschool classes.
Boys Class
Dan Campbell, 13- year old son of Ruth and Michael of Lebanon. Because of the summer schedule Dan was often working out
with younger students yet he maintained great focus on the skills he was trying to attain. He set a great example for younger
students with his great work ethic and positive attitude. He amazed them all with his super height on his front tuck (flip) on the
Tumble Trak.
SEPTEMBER 2005 GYMNASTS OF THE MONTH
Preschool
Charlotte Loucraft is the 4 year old daughter of Mickie and Rob of Willimantic. Although Charlotte is the youngest student in her
class, her maturity, hard work and outstanding strength keeps her up with the crowd. Nice job Charlotte!
Boys Class
Larson Richards, 5 year old son of Kirk and Karly of Mansfield Ctr. is extremely focused, has a great attitude and is excited
about learning new skills. His focus on doing proper drills has become very obvious this past month as he has accomplished
many new skills. Proof that proper basics and lots of drills pay off!
Girls Class
Tatiana Lindsey is the 7 year old daughter of Jodi and Cedric of Willimantic and the granddaughter of JoAnn and James
Thompson (who bring her to gymnastics and show great support). Tatiana is a very serious and coachable gymnast. She is a
great listener and appears to analyze exactly what the teachers are telling her to do. Her strong attention to details really shows
in her execution of skills.
